Planning delegate shuttles for GITEX and DWTC events
Exhibition weeks break naive transport plans. Here is how experienced organisers build shuttle loops that survive Dubai traffic.
During major DWTC weeks, the roads around Za'abeel and Sheikh Zayed Road slow to a crawl between 08:30 and 10:00. A shuttle plan built on off-peak drive times will run twenty minutes late by the second loop, and the delay compounds all morning.
The fix is loop-based scheduling rather than fixed departures. Assign each vehicle a hotel cluster, run continuous circuits, and publish a frequency instead of a timetable. Delegates tolerate 'every 15 minutes' far better than a missed 09:00 departure.
Add one standby vehicle per five in service. It costs less than the reputational damage of stranding a delegation, and it absorbs breakdowns, road closures and last-minute headcount surges.
